A Mac mini is a 19.7cm device which has all of the power of a Mac PC inside it. The idea of a Mac mini is that you can hook it up to a regular PC screen, TV screen or other device to make it “smart”. The Mac mini supports HDTV which is useful for digital signage where you’re working with screens and is also pretty small and light (under one and a half kilos) which makes fixing it somewhere behind your screen easy.

Setting up your Mac mini with ScreenCloud

Once you’ve ordered your Mac mini, use this simple guide to get it setup.

1. Plug in your Mac mini and connect to Wi-Fi

Once you’ve connected to Wi-Fi on-screen, you can visit https://release.screen.cloud/ and download the ScreenCloud player for Mac mini.

2. Pair up ScreenCloud with your Mac mini

3. Add your screen

Once you’ve signed up, you can choose ‘add screen’ from the screen below. Enter your pairing code from the previous step and that’s it! You’re now running content on your screen powered by your Mac mini device.

Applications :: How To Get Pictures From Kid's Digital Camera?

Dec 26, 2010

We got (by mistake) a kid's digital camera (MiCam Junior) that only advertises itself as being compatible with Windows, and which uses some (supplied) Windows software to download the pictures..
At first I thought it was no big deal because most (real) cameras don't need special software but just behave pretty much like an external drive.
But for some reason, this one doesn't - it is not picked up by iPhoto or Image Capture..
What should I try next?

Applications :: 5.1 Audio Playback From Digital Files?

Apr 9, 2010

I'm looking to digitize my DVD library and be able to play back the files with surround sound. The actual digitization process isn't the issue here, but I want to know how I can go about playing back the files and not losing the surround sound. I'm planning on buying a new mac mini to do this and connecting a mini-toslink cable up to my receiver. What application should I be using to get the audio playback?

Applications :: ITunes Digital Copies - Not Playing On My Macbook Pro?

Jan 6, 2010

I've downloaded 3 digital copies so far and none of them are playing properly. Just a black video, no sound no nothing even in quicktime player but you can select chapters in itunes. Length and file size are what they should be. This is especially frustrating to me because I am using snow leopard and i have a new macbook pro 13inch so i don't see why they shouldn't be working. I have Perian installed if that makes a difference but I haven't uninstalled it yet just in case i don't have to.

Applications :: Using ITunes To Create Digital Archive Of Audio CDs

Jun 1, 2010

I've been wanting to create a digital archive of all my music. I want to accomplish two things
1. Put all my CDs in their original quality on my hard drive and regularly back it up. Hopefully, once this is done, I can discard all of my CDs or put them away in a hard to reach box, thereby reducing clutter.
2. Have all of my songs easily accessible via a iPod/iPhone/etc. I have only about 150 CDs.
I'm a PC user, but am thinking about getting a Mac Book Pro. As of now, it looks like iTunes and Windows Media Player would let me accomplish #1, but since I want to get #2 as well, I've decided to use iTunes. But I have a ton of questions and am hoping to get get some answers. Right now, I just pop the CD into the drive, and get iTunes to Import the CD with the only changes to the default being that I ask it to import to WAV (which is not the default). However, I use the default WAV settings.
Am I doing the right thing with respect to importing for best quality? Why does iTunes offer additional configuration for importing to WAV files? There are settings for sampling rate and such, although I'm just using the defaults for those. Would there be any difference at all between a rip using Windows Media Player and a rip using iTunes? I have enabled error correction in the 'import settings'. Is there a way to tell if there were no errors, if an error was encountered and corrected, or if an uncorrectable error was encountered, while importing a CD? For many of the CDs that I've imported so far, Apple does not seem to have the artwork. Is there a recommended place to get artwork for iTunes and what would be the procedure for adding artwork? After I have imported a CD in WAV, how do I convert that to something smaller that I can then download to an iPod? Is it possible for iTunes to keep the song in multiple formats?

Intel Mac :: How To Record Video From Digital TV To IMac / What Cables / Applications

May 28, 2012

I have a Panasonic Viera (2006) digital TV. It has every possible port on the back (and even ports on one side.)The TV is connected to a digital TV tuner/hard disk recorder unit. The tuner also has a ton of ports. What do I need to do in order to send video from the TV to the Mac and record it on the Mac?(Either live TV or video playback from the hard disk recorder.)With my old analog TV, I used the Interview XLR8 USB video capture device with the Interview application or BTV application. (I think even Quicktime could record from the XLR too.)Seems digital TV doesn't work with the XLR8. Is that right? I tried the XLR8 with various combinations of inputs/outputs but can't seem to get any video to appear on the Mac.
I see that HDMI is one way out from Mac out and view on the TV.I also have a VCR and DVD player connected to the TV via a switcher box. With the variety of digital and analog outputs from these devices, seems I should be able to get video from the TV into the Mac.

Applications :: Outlook 2011 MAC (digital ID Error In Outlook PC)

Nov 2, 2010

I have a user who just switched from Mac Mail to Outlook 2011. Getting a strange issue when sending to users on Outlook 2010 PC.
When sending a message, users on Outlook 2011 and people viewing the message via web mail can see the message fine. It reports that it's a digitally signed message (just one sentence), and the certificates look fine. Via the web, the message appears fine. It says:
'This message has a digital signature. The digital signature could not be validated because the S/MIME control is not available.' However, it comes up fine.
However, users on Outlook for PC (my version is 2010), cannot read it. I first get a preview pane error 'This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents.' And when I double-click on the message, I get a pop up window 'Your Digital ID name cannot be found by the underlying security system.'
Anyone can provide clues why other Outlook MAC users and via the web the message can be read, but just not PC Outlook users for now?

Hardware :: Digital Pen For OS X?

Aug 11, 2007

I own an 8 gig iPhone but prefer to take notes using a digital pen. Never have used one and would like to know which is the *BEST* one for OS X? I heard that the Logitech IO2 Digital Pen is only supported for Windoze platforms (WinXP and Windows Vista). Also heard that Pen-It is supported for OS X. What I am looking for is a digital pen which enables this: Lets me draw diagrams in my own handwriting. Allows me to take notes. Converts whatever I drew or whatever note I took into a digital format on my computer. My primary platform is OS X. But I would prefer to use one which perhaps supported both (OSX & Windoze). Question(s): 1. What would I use to write / draw on? 2. Is it a specialized note pad? 3. And lastly, where can I buy it?

PowerPC :: VHS - Digital Conversion For G4

Jan 10, 2011

I have a dual 1.42 PPC 2MB L3cpp 2GB DDR SDRAM G4 tower, with two additional dual-250's HDD. I have been looking online for a while now checking out what would work best for converting VHS on to this system. my goal is to convert, do some small editing, and then archive it on my external in either .avi or .mp4 formats. I have read in the other forums that using a DV cam is best, but they are usually talking about using it with iMovie or another newer editing program that won't work on my OS so what should work best? firewire?USB 2.0? one converter box? dv cam plus converter box? I have 10.4.11OS and really can not upgrade any further.

Oct 7, 2009

MacBook Pro :: Converting 8mm To Digital

Dec 3, 2014

I am wanting to convert my parent's home videos from the late 80's and 90's to digital files. They are all on 8mm tapes and we still have the working Sony camcorder and AV cords. I would love to easily transfer them to my Macbook Pro where I can then edit the files and put them in chronological order, (some 8mm tapes start out in 1988 then jump to 1997 then back to 1993.).The only thing I have found is the Pinnacle video recorder, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with Macs and it looks like really outdated software.

Hardware :: Finding Digital SLR Cameras?

Jan 27, 2010

I am in the market for a digital SLR at a decent price - not wanting entry-level as such but don't need to pay big-bucks for a pro model.
Basically it is for two purposes:
1) Getting started in Digital SLR photography
2) Photography buildings and architecture on an upcoming trip to the Middle East.
So, a couple of friends who know about this have recommended the Nikon D40 - I have seen this model and priced it and it looks a good deal.
My main question is that it is around 6 MP - I have heard many pros and cons re this..is it a problem? Is this camera the best in its price-range or are there any other suggestions?

OS X :: Load A SD Card Through A Digital Camera?

Dec 18, 2006

I have no SD card drive, I just have a Canon Powershot camera that uses an SD card for storage and connects to the computer via USB, so I was wondering, is there any technique or program out there that would allow me to load files from the computer onto the SD card through the camera's USB? Or are those typically locked as a one way street?
