‘Teri Meri Kahani’- A Stellar Treat

HUM TV’s serial Teri Meri Kahani with fresh cast, intimations of appealing storyline and Hum TV’s signature edgy picturization is treat to eyes and mind. Edius plugins.

The serial also marks the debut on television of Saheefa Jabbar (who recently bagged the Best Emerging Talent at the Lux Style Awards 2018) as Deena; Saboor Aly’s first appearance on HUM TV as Sofia and popular actor Azfar Rehman as Ibrahim. The three leading characters predictably find themselves entwined and mired in a love triangle fueled by mis-commitments and twists & turns.

Written by Samra Ahmed and directed by Ali Raza under the production banner of Moomal Entertainment, Teri Meri Kahani is a promising drama with its supernova stars, although audiences have already predictably seen Azfar as a two-timing hero before he still gives a fresh feel to the audience with his apposite acting skills.

Saheefa’s debut appearance is certainly refreshing and appealing as a rebellious character like Deena. However, her character has left viewers a little underwhelmed with her banal expressions and monotone dialogue delivery.

Out of three leads the only character whose trajectory is undoubtedly engaging is Sofia. Once again Saboor Aly, perfectly dove deep into the soul of her character with her distinct mannerisms and apt expressions rendering a perfectly believable and stellar performance. Surrounded with a busy screen of leading actors she successfully appeals to the eyes.

What is especially impressive about Saboor- a relative newcomer- is her versatility and her ability to effortlessly transition from role to role. Saboor is currently appearing contemporaneously in three on-air projects, ‘Meeras’ on ARY Digital as Jiya with afro curls and victimized expressions, as Naheed in ARY Digital’s ‘Visaal’, a sheltered girl under religious boundaries having a lively heart with least power of expression and as Sofia in ’Teri Meri Kahani’ on HUM TV as an independent well-dressed middle-class girl; three extremely distinct and opposite characters for which she undoubtedly does justice to each role, not only through her versatile acting but also the different looks she carries off effortlessly. Earlier Saboor had shown the same fluid dexterity in her roles as Janaa in Vadaa and as Amber in Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai.

Despite a typical romantic triangle plot with engaging twists buoyed by young cast Teri Meri Kahani seems to have unequivocally grasped audiences’ attention!
